Nepalese minority community in Aberdeen has celebrated Commonwealth Game by organizing running and football tournament in Aberdeen. Organization for Nepalese Culture and Welfare ( ONCW), Aberdeen based registered charity of Nepalese community have been granted £650 to celebrate commonwealth event.
Five different events of running and Marble and spoon game and Nepalese football championship has organized. Four Nepalese team participated in the tournament. Sagarmatha team won the tournament by defeated Kanchanjanga team by 3-1.
There was overwhelming participation of Nepalese community in this event. Five different event of running across different age has been organized. Bivisiha Upreti secured first position in the 100-meter race of 0-5 years age category. Likewise, Anaushya Bohara won 100 meter race of 5-10 age category,. Whereas Samana Tiwari stood first in 100 meter race ( Girls category), whereas Lee secured first position in same age category of Boys group. Among over 20 age group of 100-meter race, Dipesh Regmi secured first position in men’s event and Pawana Sharma won in women’s category. Another fun race of Marble and spoon was organized in two age category. Anushaya Bohara won the race of 7-15 age category whereas Jasmine Regmi won of over 16-age catego
Programme Coordinator of the event Dr. Sohan Ghimire said this type of event promote social inclusion of Nepalese community in wider Scottish community and overwhelmed participation from Nepalese community embarks success of Commonweatlh game celebration.
